A good friend sent me this video of Sage Cattabriga-Alosa ripping up Southern Utah on two wheels instead of two planks. The guy rips it up in TGR films every year, but I had no idea he had such killer bike skills. Sage is a good friend of FeedTheHabit.com and has supported many of the TGR film premieres we’ve done over the years. He’s a great ambassador of skiing and always has a smile on his face.
As you will hear in the video, his favorite word is “AWESOME”, which pretty much characterizes his great attitude as he has fun skiing and biking with his friends, Matt Collins (another one of freeskiing’s good guys) and Tyler...

Kjus Skiwear launched a new promotional video displaying the beauty of skiing the mountains of Norway’s Lofoten Islands. The terrain is steep, rocky and super technical. The snow… well, while it’s not AK quality, the geography of the region lends itself well to some amazing videography. The result? A pretty cool ski video that features many Kjus team riders including them an himself, Lasse Kjus, and Norwegian freeskier, Fredrik Luykis.
The terrain is amazing and the video shows the beauty of the area as well as the technical skiing abilities of the featured riders. Definitely worth the five minutes or so to watch. I dig some of the technical, rocky lines they ski–especially considering that the conditions are not...

Last night, we received the first measurable snowfall at the mouth of American Fork Canyon. It was coming down hard with flakes the size of dinner plates. Talking with Kendall, he said he was heading up for some turns in the morning–his first of the season. Look for a full trip report soon.
On my way to the office, I snapped this photo of Lone Peak and the rest of the southern ridge line of Little Cottonwood Canyon. We’ve had a few storms so far this season, but this one was the first to truly reach all the way to the valley floor.
Sick Powder in Little Cottonwood from Last...

To celebrate the official launch of the Bluehouse 08 ski line, Bluehouse Skis is throwing a raging party at the University of Utah. The entertainment will be the Salt Lake City premiere of Rage Films’ new ski movie, ‘Enjoy’.
This year’s film is the story of the chase for powder. As we are all painfully aware, the winter of 2006-2007 proved itself to be an elusive one. One where nuclear winter was followed by months of spring-like conditions. Instead of writing the whole winter off, the crew at Rage decided to be “on call” all winter. The result is a collection of the best...

Local Utah ski startup, BlueHouse Skis, is taking product delivery to the next level. Not only are these guys making great skis, but they are drinking the Kool Aid and spreading the love better than any other manufacturer. Think Salomon is going to walk down your street and hand you a pair of PocketRocket’s with a banner and balloons in hand? Nah… those guys are too busy serving their billionth customer. BlueHouse Skis, on the other hand, is out to prove a point. They are out there to change the way skis are designed, built and marketed. And, if you’re lucky enough, they just might deliver them to your door....

Rocking the Interbike Outdoor Demo is really one of my favorite times of the year. Popping from booth to booth and actually testing all the latest suspension designs and products is awesome. And what better location than at Bootleg Canyon, Nevada. Bootleg is really growing in notoriety and is coming into its own as a great winter riding destination. With hundreds of miles of DH, XC and freeride trails, this area is the perfect destination for the Outdoor demo.
Another year of innovation has passed and we’re going to do our best to distill the best and quite possibly the worst of the new bikes and gimmicks coming your way in...

We understand the pull of the backcountry. We understand the draw of being “one” with your skis and being more “natural” by freeing your heel and your mind. But, we are beyond the days where telemarking was the only option for backcountry skiing. ...

Just one of those great powder days inbounds at The Canyons Resort, Utah. This run is a little-known jewel off the Super Condor lift. I love the little elevator drops every few turns to increase the face-shot potential. After a little back-seat driving, I pull out a fun string of turns and drops on this line. No audio, but you get the point… nice Utah powder.

Back in the day, we were carefree ski instructors at The Canyons Resort. When we had time between lessons, we were typically ditching the sleeping bag ski instructor jackets and heading for the backcountry gate where we found our little nirvana. We like to call it 12:30 because the first time we skied it, I nailed it in 12 turns to Kendall’s 30 and when we looked at our watches, it was 12:30 pm on the dot. Destiny…
This video was taken a few years after we stopped teaching at The Canyons, which was in 1998. Even though there’s a million-dollar home at the base of 12:30, we still love our little stash.
