Yo Mark! It’s been awhile… have you spotted my old 2-Step in your neck of the woods anymore? I really liked that bike a lot, but it was a little tanky.

Thanks for the tip on Balfa UK. For them to still have bikes to this day, they must have inherited a boatload! I recall seeing them for sale a few years back, but I figured they’d be long gone by now… not so:

Looks like they are on their last leg. Just the 2-Step (1 Medium Red and 1 Medium Green) and Bel-air (1 Small Blue) frames are available. Kinda sad… I can still remember talking with the owners of Balfa on the phone on a regular basis. The only person’s name I can recall off-hand is Emmanuel… I wonder what those guys ended up doing?

Procycle – the parent company of Balfa did close their doors in 2003/2004 – and remaining stock of frames etc. went to BalfaUK where you can still find a few frames in stock.

Turns out that Balfa closed their doors sometime in 2005 and were purchased by Pacific Cycles (I think). Too bad because the crew there was awesome to work with and I really liked the 2-Step. If you're looking for another bike in this category, I'd suggest the 2008 Yeti 575 or the 2008 Transition Covert. Both are awesome bikes.
