NOTE: The Sportworks Bob Ratchet has now become the THULE Sidearm. It has gone through some refinements, but it is essentially the same.

You should turn the bolt the other way. The head of the bolt slides into the slot along the bottom of the tray, then feeds down through the plastic clip that attaches to your crossbar. Does that make sense?

Awesome pics and description! I just bought a used one and the instructions are kind of vague as to the attachment on the back crossbar. I have the wheel tray sitting on the plastic cross bar clip with the projection facing upward, but it doesn't seem to be attached to the wheel tray. I've asked Thule but they haven't responded yet. Any clues? Thanks!

Just a Note: The Sportworks consumer line of bike racks was purchased by THULE shortly after this article was written. Their technology has since been incorporated throughout the Thule rack line, which is awesome!
