Head Monster Skis for 2003

11.24.02 | Author: Jason Mitchell

HEAD introduced the behemoth Monster M103 ski in 2001. At the time, it was the battleship of powder skis. The mammoth waist of the original Head Monster was wider than many skis at the tip! These skis were HUGE and intended only for the wide-open spaces of Alaska.

Now, for 2003, HEAD has moved into the freeskiing and big mountain market in a big way. The Monster ski has evolved into an entire line of skis ranging from a mid-fat to a full-fledged fatty. HEAD’s day has arrived. The world is ready for the new Monster line.

New for 2003 is the Intelligence Technology, which is built into the top skis in the entire line. Similar to the technology used by K2, torsional forces on the ski are translated into electricity which is filtered out via a resistor where the disruptive frequencies are filtered out. HEAD claims the Intelligence Technology allows the ski to adapt better to changing snow conditions and forces which would typically cause a ski to lose edge grip.

About the Ski:
The Monster i.M 75 is the ski for days which begin at 8 AM on powder snow, when everything is crisscrossed with tracks by 11 AM, and hard slopes prevail in the afternoon. No problem with Intelligence — the ski is prepared for all conditions. Smooth in soft snow and absolutely stable on ice. Its width provides the lift needed in powder, while its sidecut guarantees top carving on groomed slopes.

HEAD i.M 75 Ski Review:

“My first chance at skiing the Monster i.M 75 was at Deer Valley, the capital of the grooming world. Midway through my first run “GIDDY UP”, was my first reaction. My second was, “I thought these were mid-fats?”. Although the 75mm waist may categorize this ski as a mid-fat powder ski best suited for off-piste endeavors, these skis are very much at home on groomers. Read Detailed Head i.M 75 Review
