Jack Wolfskin Crosstrail T Shirt Review

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellMay 18, 2021No Comments3 Mins Read

Jack Wolfskin is one of those legendary brands that has been outfitting outdoor athletes for decades. Since 1981, their paw print logo has been seen on tents, jackets, sleeping bags and apparel. Their Crosstrail T is easy to love for trail running, hiking and other adventures and it comes in at a very reasonable price to boot.

Jack Wolfskin Crosstrail T Shirt Features:

    • Soft, 100% polyester fabric
    • Cut with extra length for coverage
    • Quick Moisture Control (QMC) built in
    • SFresh odor control
    • MSRP: $34.95

The Crosstrail has served me well on the local trails.

    Great shirt for any adventure

While I can appreciate a running shirt that’s built for trail running, but not much else, it’s nice to have something like the Jack Wolfskin Crosstrail T that spans several disciplines. One of the first things you’ll notice about it is how soft it is. That polyester single jersey heather fabric just feels nice next-to-skin. What’s even more beautiful is it feels just as great when dry, wet or worn underneath a jacket or backpack. It’s been chafe-free and comfortable during any activity.

After a few uses, I took it with me on a trip to St George, Utah for some desert trail running. With morning temperatures in the mid-40’s, I headed out for a 6 mile run wearing the Patagonia Airshed Pro Pullover on top. The Crosstrail T served as a great base layer for moisture wicking and warmth. The next day was a little warmer, so I wore it alone. Since then, I’ve been wearing it extensively for morning trail runs and it continues to shine.

A morning run on the Zen Trail in Southern Utah.

To its credit, the Crosstrail T isn’t hyper-specialized, so it’s flexible enough for a variety of uses. And, the styling is such that it can be used for casual days too. I’ve found it to breathe well and stay stink-free until 3-4 uses. The fabric does have some stretch to it, but it’s not overly stretchy. It does have more structure than other similar athletic shirts. Overall fit is what I’d call “semi-athletic.” I knew that going into it, so I opted for the size medium (which fits quite well). I do love the hem length as it provides excellent coverage — even when reaching high above your head.

Durability has been excellent so far and laundering is very user-friendly. I don’t have to separate it from the rest of my family’s clothing or take special care not to dry it (with a family of 6, that’s important).

Fit: The men’s medium fit my 5’11” 170 lb body just dandy. It’s not snug and not too loose. I’d say it’s just about right.

    The Good

    • Excellent price point
    • Really soft wet or dry
    • Wicks moisture very well
    • Versatile shirt for a variety of uses
    • No special laundering care needed
    • Dries quickly

    The Bad

    • Could be a little stretchier

The Bottom Line: Jack Wolfskin Crosstrail T

Jack Wolfskin makes a wide variety of outdoor gear and the new Crosstrail T is definitely a journeyman offering. It’s a good shirt for hiking, trail running or even casual use.
