Sugoi has a long been one of my favorite kit providers. Tucked away in Vancouver, BC, Sugoi has been making great bib shorts and jerseys for years. Their top-end kit is the RS Pro and I’ve been riding the RS Pro Bib Shorts, RS Training Jersey and RS Climber’s Jersey during the meat of the summer months and it’s worth checking out.
Sugoi RS Pro Bib Shorts Features
- Ultra Aero fabric on outer thighs for maximum aero efficiency
- Engineered fabric on front panels for increased breathability
- Formula FX chamois with 3D construction front and Poron at sit bones for better performance
- Infused silicone gripper leg band for a clean, smooth fit
- MSRP: $170

Love the compression fit
In all honesty, these could very well be my current favorite bib shorts. Certainly, Sugoi’s top-end RS Pro Bib Shorts don’t yield to the best shorts on the market and Sugoi’s offerings will only continue to improve now that they are part of the Garneau family.
Sugoi has remained true-to-size over the years and I know that a size large is going to fit my 5’11” 170 lb. body like it should — snug, but not like a sausage. With the RS Pro Bib Shorts, that snug fit translates to proper leg compression for proper muscle support in the saddle. Additionally, what’s also nice here is the lower-back compression they provide. The way the uppers are built, they really deliver added back support unlike other bib shorts I’ve used (always a good thing for old cyclists).

I’ll add that the straps are comfortable next-to-skin with zero chaffing problems. The lower leg cuff sits comfortably in place without a fuss as well, thanks to a wide, grippy cuff. Unfortunately, the edge of the leg cuffs aren’t cut super-straight and look out of place on these otherwise-flawless bibs. All the panels and materials work in harmony for chaff-free movement and muscle support.
I’ve been impressed with the Formula FX chamois across a variety of saddles (Fabric Scoop, Fabric Line, Fizik Antares and Fizik Arione). Cushioning and support is excellent with the perfect fit for my body.
The Good
- Excellent leg compression
- Really dig the upper body and lower-back compression
- Good length
- Mixture of materials for aero/comfort
- Bonkers-awesome chamois
The Bad
- Reflective logos are wearing off already
- Lower leg cuffs weren’t cut a little jagged
The Bottom Line: Sugoi RS Pro Bib Shorts
The latest RS Pro Bib Shorts hit the mark on all fronts — particularly compression. They ride well for long days in the saddle and have been chaff-free everywhere. If only all bib shorts could be this good.
