Perfect length with bells-and-whistles
Finding a Goldilocks pair of running shorts can sometimes be a challenge. You don’t want them too long, but too short is also bad (nobody wants to see too much of my thighs). So, as far as length goes, the Titan Ice 7″ shorts seem to be just about right. So, length is important, but it’s not everything.
Going over the lay of the land with these shorts, they do indeed check off most of the necessary boxes for me. Even though I use these as running shorts, specifically, I can appreciate front hand pockets. I don’t use them while running (obviously), but it is nice to have somewhere to stash keys or a wallet while running into the store for goo’s and gels. Once running, the front pockets disappear, so I’m glad they are there.
Around the backside, there is a single lower-back pocket that’s big enough for keys or some nutrition. With the drawstring waist tied up, everything carries well while running.
I have noticed that these shorts do cool really well — even in nuclear summer temperatures. The inner liner is nice to have and plays a big part in moisture management, but I’d like them to be just a little more snug. To take up some of that room, I tried wearing briefs underneath, but that was too much bulk and gave me a wedgie. So, it’s better to go a little loose than have an atomic wedgie while running.
The Good
- Length is perfect
- Built-in liner helps keep things cool
- Pockets all-around
The Bad
- Rear pocket is not large enough for a phone
- Liner could offer more compression
The Bottom Line: Sugoi Titan Ice Shorts
Overall, these shorts are well-executed with some great features and a perfect length. Post-workout activities can be done without looking like you just ran a marathon — even though you very well could have.
