    Dainese HG Jersey 2 Review

Eric MillerBy Eric MillerAugust 13, 2019No Comments3 Mins Read

Sporting 3/4 length sleeves, a longer cut, and plenty of flex, the Dainese HG Jersey 2 makes for a great cool weather jersey.

    Dainese HG Jersey 2 Features:

    • Durable, lightweight microfiber fabric with excellent mechanical stretch
    • 3/4 tapered sleeves are cut for aggressive riding positions
    • Seams run around the inside rather than the middle
    • Price: $69.99
With more of an athletic fit, you’ll want to size up. I usually where a large and this fits more like a medium.

HG Jersey 2 — Light and Stretchy

The first thing that really stood out to me with the Dainese HG Jersey 2 was the sizing. It is definitely Euro sizing. I typically wear a large for shirts and the HG Jersey 2 fits more like a US medium. If ordering one, consider sizing up.

Even though it runs small, the HG Jersey 2 is made with a lightweight, stretchy polyester material. I didn’t notice any restrictions in movement while climbing, bombing downhills, or sessioning jumps.

The sleeves are cut long, almost like a 3/4 sleeve, to cover elbow protection. I don’t wear elbow protection so for me the sleeves were great on chilly morning rides and for sun protection. The sleeves fit great but seem like they’d be a little tight if you are wearing elbow pads. Something to keep in mind.

Descending in style with the Dainese HG Jersey 2

The Dainese HG Jersey 2 ranks high on durability. Built for the Enduro crowd, it delivers on the wear and tear you’d expect from that type of riding. I’ve snagged trees and went over the bars once onto my shoulder on a gravelly corner in the HG Jersey 2 and it came out totally fine. No snags, no tears, even with some sliding/grinding in the gravel. I was definitely impressed! I’ve had other jerseys tear on mellower crashes.

Cut long to provide plenty of coverage for aggressive riding positions.

Durability seems to come at the cost of breathability. I noticed that the HG Jersey 2 runs very warm. On sunny climbs I was completely sweating through the shirt and overheating. It took fairly fast downhills to feel the breeze through the fabric. The HG Jersey 2 will definitely be in my fall riding rotation.

    The Good

    • Extremely durable
    • Good coverage on the arms
    • Great for cool weather riding

    The Bad

    • Runs warm – would be a great spring/fall jersey
    • Runs small, consider sizing up
    • Arms could be tight over elbow pads

The Bottom Line: Dainese HG Jersey 2

The Dainese HG Jersey 2 is a solid offering for Enduro riders or riders looking for a durable, shoulder season jersey.
