Ditch Your Derailleur, Go Bold With Niner Hardtails

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellDecember 3, 2013No Comments1 Min Read

Front derailleurs are so 2012. After riding SRAM XX1 and X01 all season long, I don’t care if I ever see another front derailleur again. They are unnecessary and I say good riddance. What’s even cooler is when frame manufacturers start building bikes around 1×11 drivetrain. Not only does that improve the looks of the bike, but most importantly, it will open up suspension designs for innovation we can only imagine today.

It’s with that intent that Niner launched and re-launched their ONE 9 RDO and SIR 9 frames this year and are now introducing a new Blaze Yellow color in both. And, boy do these look fantastic. Bright colors are fun on the trail and make these rides stand out. The new Blaze Yellow colors will be available now in both models — with build kits made for either single speed or 1×11 drivetrains. Time to ditch the derailleurs, or go singlespeed, folks.

That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.
