For the Ladies: Specialized Rumor FS 29er

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellApril 24, 2013No Comments2 Mins Read

There aren’t a ton of women’s-specific full-suspension 29ers on the market, but Specialized is looking to change that with the all-new ladies-specific Rumor line. The two top-end models (Expert and Comp) are available at your LBS now with the lower-level FSR model coming in June. If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift for the lady in your life, this may be it.

Specialized Women’s Product Manager, Erin Sprague had this to say about the new Rumor:

“We built a full-suspension 29’er because we have seen how much fit and 29’’ wheels enhance confidence and stability for women out on the trails. Our product testers are around five feet tall and their trail experiences have improved dramatically on this platform.  We believe that this bike is a game changer, and women’s mountain biking is the next big thing,”

Five feet tall is pretty short to be comfortably dialed in on a 29er. This women’s-specific fit is sure to improve the riding experience for shorter and taller women of all riding abilities. With just the right geometry combined with the rolling ability of bigger hoops and your better half may just start schooling you on the local singletrack.

  • Internal cable routing
  • Low standover height
  • Water bottle clearance inside the downtube (on ALL sizes!!!)
  • Female-specific suspension tuning
  • Autosag feature to easily dial in the ride
  • Weight: 27.4 lbs (Expert)
  • Price: $1900-$4000
