In For Review: Easton EC70 Trail 29 Carbon Wheels

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellJuly 11, 2014No Comments1 Min Read

The process of building out the proper test bike for the new Easton EC70 Trail wheelset took a little more time to come together than anticipated. That said, these wheels are prepped and ready to roll aboard an all-new 2015 Santa Cruz Tallboy. To kick things off, I wanted to post a few pictures of these wheels in all their glory. While these are not tubeless-ready, I’ll initially ride them tubed and then convert them for tubeless.

    Easton EC70 Trail Wheels Features:

    • Hand-laid UD carbon fiber
    • Acoustically tuned
    • Easton M1 hubs
    • SRAM XD Driver-compatible (how I’ll roll them)
    • 20mm internal rim width
    • 25.5mm external rim width
    • 24 count 3X pattern (front and rear)
    • Compatible with QR’s (front/rear), 15QR front and 142×12 rear
    • Not tubeless-ready (wha?!?)
    • Weight: 1460 grams (stated)
    • MSRP: $1850

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jason quickly developed a love for the outdoors and a thing for mountains. That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.
