Italian Endurance: Pinarello Launches Dogma X

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellSeptember 22, 20231 Comment3 Mins Read

Nobody should be surprised that when Pinarello introduces a new endurance platform that it comes with some classic asymmetric sizzle. So, with the beloved beauty only Pinarello can deliver, the brand new Pinarello Dogma X is coming in hot, ready for a comfortable all-day ride with a hefty dose of speed and responsiveness. Those Italian lines now include a clear “X Marks the Spot” on the seat stay arch.

This new flagship model is on par with the Dogma F in engineering, performance, looks and, most certainly, price. Indeed, if you must ask, you should probably be looking at another brand because the Pinarello Dogma X complete bikes will set you back $15,500 (Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Princeton Carbonworks Grit 5440, etc.) with the frame kit alone going for $6,950. With your Amex Black Card in hand, you’ll be ready to roll out of that Pinarello dealer with what should be the brand’s finest endurance bike. Let’s highlight some of the main features of the Dogma X, which looks to be the bike that most Dogma riders should be riding these days.

Pinarello Dogma X - All the Asymmetrical Glory
All tube shapes are optimized for power transfer and comfort.

    Asymmetric Carbon Frame Design

Utilizing Toray T1100 1K carbon fiber, the Dogma X frame tips the scales at 960 grams (53cm). Core to the Pinarello DNA, tube shapes are asymmetrical to optimize pedaling and braking forces to deliver a symmetrical ride.

    Pinarello Dogma X - Flexi Stays 2.0
Flex Stays 2.0 add comfort on all roads.

    Flexi Stays 2.0

No gimmicks or add-ons, the new Flexi Stays 2.0 technology uses a mixture of both T900 and T700 carbon, mated to slim, curved seat stays. An actual X is built into the seat stay arch, in addition to double attachment of the stays to further disperse road vibration.

    35mm tires, no problem.

    35mm Tire Clearance

Not only can you fit wide road tires on the Dogma X, they are delivering it with 35mm tires — right at their max stated size. With the most demanding Spring Classics being conquered on 32mm tubeless tires, fitting 35mm tires is the minimum for a modern road bike, in my eyes. It’s on par with the latest Cannondale Synapse and is bested by the Trek Domane.

The Solar Sun color looks stunning.

    Endurance+ Geometry

To better accommodate riders of all ages and flexibility, the Dogma X features Endurance+ geometry with a higher stack and more compact reach. With it, less spacers are needed to achieve the proper fit and maintain a sleek design.

The Dogma X will be available starting today from your local dealer. And, here in the States, the X9, X7 and X5 complete bikes will also be available at lower price points with varying grades of carbon and parts specs. There are differences in the frame design and geometry compared to the Dogma X. Those lower-grade complete models range from $11,800 (X9 Dura-Ace Di2) to $6,000 (X5 105 Di2). Fingers crossed that one of these bikes will come our way in 2024 for testing.

The X seems gimmicky. Pinearello bikes are easily recognizable without this additional feature.
