Jason may be the master of the trail-side selfie, but I like to think that lugging my DLSR on backpacking trips continues to be worth it. That said, it’s funny to look back over my photos from the last year and find that most of them are quick pictures that I snapped on my iPhone – and they’re usually of the people who I shared the adventures with.

Might as well start this post off with a splash – every summer I make time to volunteer as a raft guide for an organization called Peak 7 that facilitates adventure trips for at-risk teenagers. There’s nothing like getting cussed out by an irritated, cold teenager at 8am and then dumping them into the Oak Spring hole that afternoon.
