2019 Specialized Epic EVO Gets Rowdy

By Jason Mitchell on July 9, 2018 Mountain Biking, News, Videos

Long-legged XC machines are where it’s at. With a string of releases lately, we’ve seen a 100-120mm travel 29er revival and the new Specialized Epic EVO looks to add a great option to the fray. Built around the Epic with 100mm travel rear using the Brain 20 shock for an efficient, fast ride.

For the 2019 model year, the Specialized Epic EVO will come in two flavors:

    • Epic Expert EVO Carbon – $5800 (July 2018)
    • Epic Comp EVO Alloy – $3200 (August 2018)

Getting the new Epic EVO dirty looked like fun.

What’s new with the Epic EVO, you ask? Here’s a rundown:

    1. 120mm travel forks for added comfort and capability in rough terrain
    2. 100mm rear travel
    3. Increased bar width from 720 to 750mm for better control
    4. Stealth dropper posts to get the saddle out of the way in gnarly terrain
    5. 2.3″ tires for added traction
    6. Includes Brain 2.0 rear shock for active, efficient performance
    7. Uses SRAM DUB threaded bottom bracket (huzzah!)
    8. “Flex Stays” instead of regular 4-bar Horst link for lighter, optimized kinematics
    9. Internal cable routing on both carbon and aluminum models
