After riding and loving the Shimano XC5 lace-up gravel shoes, the only thing I wished for was a stiffer sole. Well, Shimano was listening and just launched the race-ready RX8 gravel shoe that will make its debut at Dirty Kanza 2019.
Shimano has leveraged their MTB and road racing shoe expertise to deliver maximum traction, comfort and power transfer — something that will be appreciated on long gravel adventures. Training for the SBT GRVL race myself, I’ve been trying to find the optimal footwear and these are definitely just what I’ve been looking for. They are lightweight, with excellent traction and a stiff outsole. Bingo.
The RX8’s will feature Boa’s awesome IP1 closure and a full-length carbon outsole rated at 10 out of 11 in stiffness. Look for the RX8’s in men’s and women’s options this August for $250.
