Goodyear Releases UHP Tubeless Complete Road Tires

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellAugust 17, 2020No Comments3 Mins Read

From one of the oldest names in tires, Goodyear is upping the ante with some all-new treads aimed squarely at the latest crop of tubeless road wheels (clincher fans will also get options). The Ultra-High Performance (UHP) tire lineup consists of the Eagle F1 SuperSport, Eagle F1 and Vector 4Seasons.

All three models will come in clincher (a.k.a “Tube Type”) or “Tubeless Complete,” with widths appropriate for each tire type. We’ll focus on the two tires we were sent for testing — Eagle F1 and Vector 4Seasons Tubeless complete. There’s a lot of hubbub around tubeless road these days, with Zipp’s new 303 and ENVE’s new Foundation Collection being tubeless only, riders everywhere are pouring over the latest tire offerings to determine if they will fit these new wheels. Though unconfirmed by Zipp and ENVE, all signs point to yes since Goodyear has verified their Tubeless Complete tires with both hooked and hookless rims.

    Goodyear Tubeless Complete
Tubeless Complete allows the bead to seat on both hooked and hookless rims.

Looking further at the Dual Angle Bead found on these new tires, it is built to seat perfectly with either type of rim. And, in practice, it works awesome. I’ve been running the new Eagle F1 30mm Tubeless complete tires for a few weeks now and I can attest to their tubeless performance. They seat up in a jiffy and hold pressure better than any tubeless tire I’ve tested. I have them mounted up with the 21mm internal Bontrager Aeolus PRO 37 TLR’s using Orange Seal tubeless sealant. The 30-32mm tires are recommended with rims of that inner width, but can safely be used with up to 26mm internal width rims.

Zippy and grippy — the Eagle F1’s are.

Actual inflated measurement initially sat right at 29.5mm with that combination, but have since settled in at 30.2mm. I’m about 100 miles in and I couldn’t be happier with the Eagle F1’s so far (expect a detailed review of the F1 and 4Seasons tires in the coming months).
