Power Wheels: 3T Racemax Boost Italia Integrale

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellNovember 2, 20232 Comments2 Mins Read

The engineering team at 3T has been busy advancing their full lineup of products — with a focus on developing their premier products in Bergamo Italy. On the heels of the 3T Racemax Italia Integrale comes an elegant eBike version powered by the Mahle X-20 hub-based motor. With stated weights just over 24 lbs, the result is a lightweight, performance-oriented gravel bike built around an Italian-made frameset. Because 3T is able to optimize the carbon production in their home factory, the frame is lighter, stiffer and more performance-oriented, but it understandably comes at a price.

The Mahle X-20 system includes a 236 Wh battery integrated into the already-large and aerodynamic downtube, which can provide assisted power for just over 60 miles. The engine and system is optimized to provide rider-assist and essentially disappear when not needed. In addition, the performance is customizable with the Mahle app. Because it is hub-based, pedaling feel remains the same whether powered or unpowered, but you will notice the extra weight. It’s a different delivery compared to the Trek Domane+ SLR we tested last year, which uses the TQ Harmonic, crank-based motor and weighs 2 lbs more.

The Racemax Boost Italia will be offered in limited quantities in Ardesia (SRAM Rival XPLR AXS) or “Project X” Superlight (SRAM Red AXS, etc.). Prices range from $ to $12,491.

FYI: We reviewed the acoustic 3T Racemax a few years ago and it remains one of our favorite gravel racers.

No Shimano, no thank you… I love the idea of this bike, but the lack of a Shimano groupset offering keeps this one off the short list.

I love the new Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2 for sure, but I still prefer SRAM AXS shifting — especially for gravel. Once the new GRX Di2 is out… I’m sure they’ll outfit the Racemax with it.
