Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2008

Let Outdoor Retailer New Gear Madness Begin

1
By Jason Mitchell on August 7, 2008 News

For those of you who don’t know, Outdoor Retailer is the largest tradeshow for outdoor manufacturers to showcase their wares. It happens twice a year with the Summer Market in August and the Winter Market in January. The best part… it happens right here in Salt Lake City at the Salt Palace.

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2008

I’ve got a full plate of appointments from all the major manufacturers and will be posting about the latest gear for next Spring. Last year brought some nuggets like the MSR HyperFlow water filter, new MSR tents, and new glasses and goggles from Smith Optics and a bunch of other hot new gear.  This year should prove to be even bigger (if my fingers can keep up).

My schedule is full with all the big names including:

  • Salomon
  • Mountain Hardwear
  • SOLE Footbeds
  • END – Environmentally-friendly Design
  • Ryders Eyewear
  • Princeton Tec Lighting
  • Arc’Teryx
  • Polar Watches
  • La Sportiva
  • Sierra Designs
  • Jetboil
  • Osprey Packs
  • GoPro Cameras
  • 66 Degrees North
  • eVent Fabrics
  • Yakima Racks
  • Smith Optics
  • MSR
  • Deuter Packs
  • Timex Watches
  • Nau – The NEW Nau
And, I’m sure I’ll end up covering many others on-the-fly.  Looks like a BUSY next couple of days. Wish me luck! Chime in below if you want me to cover anything else.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jason quickly developed a love for the outdoors and a thing for mountains. That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.

What a great list of companies! I’ll be meeting with a few of them myself. I’m particularly interested to meet with the folks from END Footwear and La Sportiva. Gotta love light weight trail shoes!

    See ya out there!
