New Kicks: Rapha Classic and Explore Shoes

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellMarch 21, 2019No Comments2 Mins Read

Rapha likes to do things their way, which can take time to get things right. That’s just what Rapha has done with their entirely-new and internally-developed Rapha Classic and Explore cycling shoes. Both models use the same construction: anti-slip outsole, carbon plate, double-wall lacing system, adjustable arch supports and generous toe boxes for long-distance comfort.

Something that everyone will appreciate on the Classic model is the unique outsole, which features full-length TPU for confident walking off the bike. There’s no replaceable tread, but I can’t remember the last time I actually replaced a heel piece on one of my shoes.

With the Explore model, you get a full-tread outsole with aggressive lugs for extensive off-bike adventures. Additionally, the carbon insert is shortened to allow flex at the heel and toe for the ultimate walkability. Both shoes feature a classic lacing system with a single velcro strap at the forefoot.

You can see the shoe construction in the following videos.
