Argon 18 Dark Matter
We rode and enjoyed the Argon 18 Krypton XRoad a few years back as their first dip into the gravel market. Now that the genre is maturing, Argon 18 is introducing the Dark Matter. Touted as a nimble, fast and responsive gravel bike, Argon 18 doesn’t want you to forget their on-road prowess.
With asymmetrical chain stays, dropped seat stays and a forward-raked fork, the Dark Matter offers ample tire clearance with compliance to boot. Because gravel riding is often slower, they paid close attention to toe overlap with the raked fork across all sizes.
The 2019 Argon 18 Dark Matter will offer 45mm tire clearance, optional front derailleur mount, smart internal cable routing, chain stay and downtube protection, direct-mount rear derailleur option, fender mounts, stable geometry and will come in at 1300 grams for the medium frame. Pricing will be $3000 for Shimano 105 R7000 or $4200 for SRAM Force 1.
