As bikepacking gains popularity and adventure bikes get more and more capable, epic trips like Brian Ohlen’s 1000 mile journey from Canada to Mexico in search of steelhead, become a reality. His pedal-powered fishing adventure highlights the need to protect our public lands and maintain access for cyclists, hikers, fishermen and hunters alike.
We all must work together to raise awareness for public lands. The recent fight over Bears Ears National Monument has brought out the likes of Patagonia, Black Diamond and others who are championing these lands.
Chapter 1 of Water Cycle blends beautiful filmmaking with Ohlen pedaling through snow, rain and cold in search of winter steelhead. If you wish to sign the stream access pledge in support of maintaining public access to these rivers, visit backcountryhunters.org.
Robin Sansom, Blackburn Design’s Director share’s his passion for this project by saying, “The goal of this project is to recognize how important water is in our lives, especially as recreationalists. Brian’s trip is only one example. Active stewardship is necessary to preserve water and our access to it,”
