LeftLaneSports: Up to 70% Off Retail With Private Sales

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellMay 25, 20101 Comment3 Mins Read

Everyone is familiar with the many One-Deal-at-a-Time (ODAT) sites these days. There seems to be one for just about any type of sport or activity. Into skiing, try Tramdock.com. How about hunting? Try Camofire.com. What about gadgets and gizmos? Head to the original, Woot.com. While these are all fine and dandy, sometimes I prefer to take my shopping a little more casually instead of feeling under-the-gun to pull the trigger before the next steezy deal arrives.

While the online private sale format isn’t entirely-new either, it’s fun to see it develop and provide choices to the outdoor enthusiast. I tweeted about TheClymb when it launched earlier this year and have recently run into another similar site called LeftLaneSports.com. Similar to TheClymb, this new site provides steep discounts on one brand per week. These are name brands you know well with high-quality products to meet your needs while going light on the wallet.

Interested? Read the following press release and check out their site for yourself. This week is Sugoi, last week featured Ogio products and we’ll see what is on tap for next week.

    Press Release from LeftLaneSports.com:

LeftLaneSports.com, an exclusive members-only destination offering premium sports brands and products at discounts up to 70% off retail, launched as the sporting goods industry’s leader in the private sale arena.

LeftLane Sports will begin offering sports enthusiasts a unique way to shop their favorite brands and products at deep discounts. Featuring sports gear through short, limited quantity sales events, the site follows in the rapid-growth footsteps of private fashion and home décor retailers like Gilt Groupe, RueLaLa, and One Kings Lane. Founded by industry veterans, Helio Fialho and Maggie Bartels, LeftLane Sports is set to offer the sporting goods world a new channel for merchandising and debuting their products.

“LeftLane Sports delivers unparalleled access to premium sports gear at incredible values,” said co-founder Erik Fialho. “Sporting goods consumers finally have their place in the Private Sale world.” Thousands of visitors to LeftLane have taken advantage of the savings during the company’s quiet “soft launch” period. Current members have had exclusive access to hand-picked selections from brands like Salomon, Columbia, Patagonia, GoLite, and Gregory. The site’s one business day shipping (the fastest standard shipping of any Private Sale site) has created strong brand loyalty among members. “In the short time we’ve been live, many customers have shopped with us three or four times,” said Bartels.

The launch of LeftLane Sports marks the second historic sports ecommerce event for founder Helio Fialho. As former COO of west-coast retailer, Copeland’s Sports, Fialho launched the first online sports retail site, ShopSports.com, in 1996. As CEO of ShopSports, Fialho propelled the site to number one in the sporting goods industry before leaving the company in 2000. Fialho believes that LeftLaneSports.com will follow in the same market dominating footsteps of his previous sporting goods endeavors.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jason quickly developed a love for the outdoors and a thing for mountains. That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.
