Outdoor Retailer: Oboz Burn Trail Running Shoe

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellJanuary 25, 2009No Comments1 Min Read

OboZ is a relatively new brand (2 years old) that’s lead by heavy-hitters in the outdoor shoe industry. Without question, these guys know how to build great shoes, but they have been cautious with their marketing and promotion budgets, so the growth has been steady through organic channels.

Last Fall, I was able to review the Oboz Ignition trail running shoes and had a great time on them. They are a durable and functional trail runner that can also double as a lightweight hiker. Keeping things simple, this Spring Oboz is introducing a lighter-weight and more running-focused shoe called the Burn.

Built on the same last as the Ignition, the Burn utilizes an entirely different upper philosophy than the Ignition. With the Burn, you get a traditional tongue for a more standard fit, more mesh for increased breathability and it’s all slapped on top of the most grippy sole I’ve tested. Weight is coming in at 25.8 oz per pair with a MSRP of $100.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jason quickly developed a love for the outdoors and a thing for mountains. That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.
