Park City Point 2 Point Endurance Mountain Bike Race

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellJune 26, 20094 Comments2 Mins Read

With all the classic mountain bike races going on these days, like Leadville, Downieville and others, it’s about time Park City had their own part of the action! The inaugural Park City Point2Point endurance mountain bike race will take place Saturday, September 5, 2009 with a 75-mile course featuring at least 10,000 ft. of total elevation.

The course will wander through some of the best singletrack Park City has to offer. And with over 300 miles of the world’s-finest singletrack at their mercy, it’s bound to be a killer race. While the final course layout has yet to be fully completed (finalized by July 15), course organizers are going into it with the following goals in mind:

    1. 90% or more of the course must be single-track
    2. 75 miles or more & 10,000 or more feet of climbing
    3. Minimal crossings (intersections) and no multi-directional use of trail
    4. Must hit all three of the Park City area resorts (Deer Valley, PCMR and The Canyons)

    How Do I Register?

Registration is now open to both solo or duo team riders with the following entry fees:

    • Solo: $120 – register
    • Duo (easy/hard split): $190 – register

The Duo category is perfect for husband/wife or father/son teams where a stronger rider can team up with another rider who may not be as comfortable with the distance and/or climbing required. This one is destined to become a classic for years to come.

This looks like good fun. Park City is a beautiful part of the world. Wish though that feedthehabit would help us over here in Kenya to showcase some of our races namely the 10-4 (thousand feet) on Mount Kenya.

      Hey James

Though I don’t typically cover much outside the States, send me some info and I could gladly post something.

If you want this one to become destined to be a classic for years to come, and to attract the top riders make it 100 miles not 75 miles.

Definitely a valid criticism, but this is the first year and the organizers are doing a darn fine job getting things rolling. Potentially they will look at improving and/or lengthening the course in future years. It’s a great start!
