Princeton Tec Swerve Tail Light and EOS Bike Headlight

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellNovember 14, 2008No Comments2 Mins Read

As more and more people are commuting by bike these days, it’s becoming even more important to be noticed on the roads. In my mind, anything I can do to get noticed on the road is fair game. I’ve been known to slap a tail light on my roadie even during the day. With cell-phone talking, SUV driving individuals on the road, every little bit helps.

Princeton Tec has long been a leader in lighting technology with application-specific lights for cycling, SCUBA, industrial and outdoor applications. I’ve had my hands on both the Princeton Tec Swerve and EOS Bike lights for a few months now and have been impressed. Here are some thoughts.

    Princeton Tec Swerve Tail Light

The PTec Swerve is bright and includes two lighting options. Both the flashing and solid settings are super bright. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a taillight as bright as the Swerve. With a myriad of mounting options via two durable rubber bands, the PTec Swerve can easily be mounted on the seatpost, seatstays or on a pack via the included clip.

I’ve used the Swerve on early-morning road rides to ensure I’m seen. I’m alive still, so it must be working, right? I’m confident that it gets me noticed earlier and provides that extra bit of daytime safety. At night, obviously the Swerve will ensure you get seen. It’s a high-quality, lightweight and easy-to-mount bike light that should be a part of any bike commuter’s bag-o-tricks. Two included AA batteries give you 70 hours of burn time. MSRP is $29.99.

    Princeton Tec EOS Bike Headlight

Looking for a flexible and lightweight headlight solution for your commuter? Or, need a backup light for 24 Hours of Moab? The PTec EOS Bike is an ultra-bright (50 lumens) headlamp that’s easily mounted to your bars or helmet. You’ve got to have one of these in your pack just in case. It’s light and powerful and lasts 120 hours on three included AAA batteries. MSRP is $44.99.
