Optum Pro Cycling to Ride Diamondback Road Bikes

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellJanuary 7, 2014No Comments2 Mins Read

Over the past few years, the historically dirt-focused crew at Diamondback has been singing a slightly different tune. That tune has featured lyrics like “On the road again” and “Route 66” in an effort to garner more attention to their respectable road bike line. Just last year, the folks at RoadBikeReview.com gave the Podium 7 pretty high marks and now it’s time for the accomplished Optum Pro Cycling Team to put that to the test.

If you’re not familiar with Optum Pro Cycling, they are one of the most accomplished UCI Continental squads around with podiums in all the major events held on North American soil including the Tour of Utah, the USA Pro Challenge, the Tour of California and the Tour of Alberta. I’ve seen this squad ride successfully here in Utah for many years and this is an impressive coup for the folks at Diamondback.

Riders will be aboard the top-shelf Diamondback Podium Equipe for 2014:

Of the partnership, Optum Pro Cycling’s Performance Director, Jonas Carney said:

“Diamondback has made a significant commitment to our program and is working very closely with our staff and athletes to deliver the most competitive racing machines available. Diamondback’s willingness to support us, and to collaborate in the areas that will help our riders get the most out of their racing, will be a major asset in 2014.”

And, Diamondback’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Phil Howe added:

“Our partnership with Optum speaks as much to Diamondback’s investment in road cycling as it does to our belief in the health and happiness that cycling brings to people. Optum is passionate about bringing the values of ‘human-powered health’ to the masses and Diamondback wants to support that message through top-level racing and the inspiration that these riders can bring to all levels of riders, new and old.”

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jason quickly developed a love for the outdoors and a thing for mountains. That infatuation continues as he founded this site in 1999 -- sharing his love of road biking, mountain biking, trail running and skiing. That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.
