Heading into the 2012 Tour de France, SCOTT has announced the all-new 2013 Premium Road Shoe. Team ORICA-GreenEDGE riders will be sporting these white-and-green dancing shoes at the ball. No, the fairy godmother didn’t provide them, but the combination of features looks as if SCOTT’s shoe designers dipped into their bag of magic tricks.
The combination of my personal-favorite BOA Lacing System and breathable, yet supportive uppers attached to an ultra-stiff carbon sole looks to place SCOTT’s latest road shoes in the front of the peloton. Check them out on all of SCOTT’s footwear athletes in this year’s Tour.

Luke Fryer, the designer of the new Premium Road Shoe, gives an insight into the work on the new model for 2013, which will be worn by four of SCOTT Sport’s Footwear Athletes in the next 3 weeks:
“The Road Premium cycling shoe has been redesigned for 2013. By incorporating feedback from our professional cyclists, we have made targeted modifications to improve both fit and comfort. The shoe’s performance fit has been enhanced with a new upper construction. The upper now utilizes a series of ribs to effectively wrap the foot and create a secure bridge between the sole and the closure system. The mesh area between the ribs also affords good ventilation, keeping feet comfortably cool.”
“The BOA closure system has also undergone some revisions. The narrow pulleys have been replaced with wider 2-to-1 lace loops, and a new tongue featuring a three dimensionally molded stiffener and cushion. These features work in tandem to more comfortably distribute the forces of the BOA laces across the instep, and a Velcro strap has been added across the forefoot to further tailor the fit.”
“At the back of the shoe, the Anatomic Heel Counter was made both stronger and taller. Coupled with additionally reinforcing details, the system will work in unison with the BOA lacing to securely cradle the foot, and eliminate heel slip.”
“With the emergence of Team GreenEDGE, the design directive for the new Road Premium shoe was clear—look different from the rest of the peloton. The shoe blends from white to a deep green, conveying a sense of speed, and the main microfiber, a bright, glossy GreenEDGE green, will definitely stand out in a crowd.”

That is a beautiful looking shoe. Also a huge fan of the BOA Lacing System although it sometimes loosens over the course of long rides.
It auto-adjusts to increase your comfort level as your feet swell… it’s a calculated thing. 🙂 I guess I haven’t noticed that since I’m adjusting mine tighter and looser all the time during a ride. I love how easy it is to adjust them, so I typically tighten them for climbs and loosen them on descents.
