Never Let a Photographer Mount Your Ski Bindings

By Jason Mitchell on November 2, 2008 Skiing

I just got the latest REI catalog, the “Wish It” holiday version for Christmas 2008. I always like to thumb through the catalog to see what REI picks as the top gear of the season.  Sometimes I agree and other times, I don’t, but since I’m not a retailer, I don’t have to push what I’ve got on the shelf.

So, back to the current REI catalog. I made it to the ski page with all the top skis of the season. Some great options are featured here including the Salomon Lord, Line Prophet 100, Volkl Gotama, Volkl Unlimited AC50 and the K2 Obsethed skis. All are great skis, but not as fat as I’d prefer–good skis nonetheless.

Lets take a closer look at the picture though… Something seems fishy with the Line Prophet 100’s. Can you see it? Take a look for yourself.

Yup… the heelpiece is on backwards. No doubt, the photographer had no clue the heelpiece was attached backwards and by the time the photo got to the REI catalog team, it was too late.  So, here it is for all to see… a backwards binding. Everyone makes mistakes, lets just hope you don’t trust a photographer to mount your bindings.

That passion is channeled into every article or gear review he writes. Utah's Wasatch Mountains are his playground.

      bahhahahahaha! Classic blunder.

That definately rivals the photo I saw on Moosejaw’s website of a gal rock climbing with a rental helmet on from EMS, not to mention she wasn’t really rock climbing but was just hanging there as a commenter mentioned here:
