Slotting in between the X1 1×11 and the X5 drivetrains is the all-new SRAM GX groupset family. Available in the coming months, this new workhorse component group looks to satisfy mountain bikers of all skill levels while not breaking the bank. This new drivetrain will allow manufacturers to offer 1×11 or even 2×11 in lower-cost builds and may very well put carbon fiber frames within reach of more riders.
When the XX1 1×11 group hit the market, it represented a huge step forward in efficiency and also opened the doors for bike manufacturers to build frames without considering the need for a front derailleur. While the new GX group will also offer 2×11 and 2×10 options, the best news is an even lower-cost 1×11 kit.
The new GX 1×11 kit consists of the following:
