Yup… missed it at Sea Otter, but I did predict this would be the case. The official launch of SRAM’s new X9 and X0 2×10 drivetrains! The full-spectrum from X7 to XX is now 2×10 and will be available in August of this year. Simplification and specialization are really the two key words here. Simplification because overlapping gears are reduced and specialization because the front derailleur now only has two movements while corresponding chainrings can be tuned even more finely for crisper shifting.
While the XX grouppo is absolutely superb, the price-point really put the hurt on those wanting to make the leap. Now, with the whole spectrum covered with 2×10, riders of all styles and budgets can now hop into 2×10 and enjoy the benefits of lighter-weight and crisp, simplified shifting.
