SuperSix EVO Disc Headlines 2017 Cannondale Lineup

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellJune 28, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

Cannondale’s flagship SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod gets officially onboard the disc party for 2017. While the pro peloton is certainly mixed on the use of disc brakes, consumers and elite-level riders want them. Now that Ted King has retired, he’s made a specific point that he doesn’t intend to go back to rim brakes and, he has been seen unofficially riding the new SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod Disc for a few months now.

So, here are the details I know so far about the new SuperSix EVO Disc:

    • It has disc brakes, obviously, but specifically, flat-mounts and 140mm rotors
    • It’s just the Hi-Mod frame at this point with the only known build being a full-Ultegra kit (shown here)
    • It comes with 25mm tires, but clearance is sufficient for many 28’s
    • It features mixed axles — 12×100 thru-axle up front and 9×135 QR in the rear (hmmm)
    • Same race-friendly geometry carries over with the same renowned ride qualities — just better braking in all conditions
    • Claimed weight is 829 grams in a 54cm
    • Availability and price is TBA

But, the rear is still a standard QR -- presumably for quicker wheel changes?

    New Slate Apex Women’s Model

Something for the ladies is always nice. This time it’s a women’s-specific build of the all-road Slate. The Apex kit will retail for $1999 and, like all Slate models, features 650b wheels with 42mm tires. As the reigning winner of the 2016 Dirty Kanzaa, the Slate is winning over more and more riders every day.

The women’s Apex model differs from the current slate in that it has a one-sided aluminum fork instead of a Lefty. It is available in two sizes (small and medium) and features a stunning color scheme to distinguish it as a ladies model. Really, this one is a looker and is on the short list for my wife’s next new bike.

The ladies get a stunning mulberry/acid strawberry color.

A full alloy frame and cockpit will need some carbon bits for extra comfort.
