When I make the effort to wear a long-sleeve button-down shirt, it better be something comfortable. And, as a t-shirt kind of guy, tucking is just not my thing either. That said, the updated Mountain Khakis Skiff shirt handily knocks off both the comfortable and untucked requirements.

Soft and comfortable
When I first saw the Skiff’s material, I was floored by just how light and stretchy it was. Just doing a little hand stretching and touching while at the Mountain Khakis booth at Outdoor Retailer, I knew this shirt could pass my strict level of pickiness.
At 7 oz. this shirt’s weight is simply astounding. But, at the same time, the fabric has remained intact after repeated use and washings in the not-so-gentle cycle (welcome to my household of six).
The Skiff shirt is an all-rounder that can handle office duty, trail duty or fishing duty with ease. And, with SPF built-in, you can be sure you are protected should you spend extensive time under the sun. Luckily, like all MK shirts, this one features a snap collar to cover the back of the neck, when needed.
With subtle front and rear vents, the Skiff shirt is simply fantastic for warm weather. You get a excellent flow-through on top of the lightweight material and it really is comfortable.
This has been my go-to travel shirt and has survived several trips — including one stuff into a carry-on during a trip to New York City. I pulled it out the next day and any wrinkles just disappeared within a few minutes of wearing it. I stuffed it back in for the trip home and pulled it out with the same results.
For me, the only downside to this shirt is the sleeve length. To get the proper sleeve length, I’d have to go with the size Large shirt, but doing so means it fits way baggy everywhere else. So, instead of having an overly-baggy fit, I prefer the Medium and just roll up the cuffs once for an “I’m in charge look.” Otherwise, with the Medium, the sleeves are just a little short. I typically roll my cuffs — even with the proper sleeve length, but am forced to here because they are simply too short.
I’ll add that stink-resistance is not the best here. I can really only wear it one day without putting a little deodorant on the shirt itself. A bit of a bummer for multi-day use when traveling.
