2027 Canyon Grail CFR AXS - Gen. 3
    New Gear

2027 Canyon Grail Gets More Aero and Monster Clearance

Jason MitchellBy Jason MitchellSeptember 17, 2026No Comments3 Mins Read

Gravel racing has evolved at a dizzying pace over the last few years, and winning times have tumbled right along with it. Canyon is stepping up to the plate with the all-new third-generation Canyon Grail, engineered directly alongside top-tier racers like Rosa Klöser to conquer the brutal realities of modern gravel events or all-day adventures on your home gravels.

With three distinct carbon tiers (CFR, CF SLX, and CF) the new Grail redefines what an all-terrain race bike can handle without sacrificing speed.

Key Highlights of the Gen. 3 Canyon Grail

Massive 57mm Tire Clearance: Driven by rider demand for supreme float over rough terrain, the frame and fork are engineered to swallow up to 57mm (2.25″) rubber with over 4mm of ISO clearance to spare. Achieving this required a dedicated 1-by-only platform featuring a solid driveside chainstay.

Real-World Aero Benchmarking: Ignoring traditional road racing speed testing (45 km/h), Canyon tested the new Grail at a more realistic 35 km/h gravel race pace in the GST Wind Tunnel. The aerodynamic frame enhancements mean the new Grail is not only faster than key competitors (like the Rose Backroad FF and Factor Ostro Gravel), but even when run with wide 55mm tires, it generates less drag than the second-gen bike running 40mm rubber. Nice!

Racier Fit & PACE Cockpit Tech: To match rising race speeds, Canyon lowered the frame stack by 15mm while maintaining extended reach. The CFR and CF SLX models upgrade to the award-winning PACE Cockpit  system, offering 50mm of width and 20mm of height adjustment via a single TX25 tool (delivering 15 distinct fit configurations without bleeding brakes or cutting steerers), paired with ergonomic Control Drops.

VCLS Compliance & Carbon Wheels: Ride quality is managed by the SP0093 VCLS Aero seatpost, which delivers 25% extra compliance over rigid aero posts. Select models also debut Canyon’s new GR 50 CF carbon wheels — featuring a progressive 27mm internal width and 50mm depth designed specifically for modern high-volume gravel tires.

Next-Level Adaptability & Storage: Canyon’s LOAD Down Tube Storage carries your mid-ride essentials securely out of sight. Joint Canyon/Cyclite frame packs are built to blend right in without any aero pentalty.
