The first iteration of the Canyon Lux Trail wast a little rough around the edges to be a true downcountry bike. Version 2 also wasn’t quite right, but the third-generation 2027 Canyon Lux Trail looks to correct any of those flaws by delivering the downcountry bike it should have been from the start.
My biggest gripe from the first-gen Lux Trail was its lack of downhill prowess. Now that’s corrected by upping the travel to 125mm in the rear and 140mm up front. With that, the slack 64.8-deg head tube and longer wheelbase rounds out the descending chops. All the marketing material looks to showcase the playfulness of the new Lux Trail and, on paper, it looks promising.
I’m a bike kit kinda guy, so earning my vert is how I roll. To further satisfy my desire to chase KOM’s, the 2027 Lux Trail also drops 200 grams from the frame while adding in-frame storage, more travel and burlier frame protection. Canyon asserts that the new model feels ultra-snappy on climbs and holds its own on the most challenging ascents.
Internal cable routing looks to be a standard affair and the frame offers simplified flex-stay pivots for lower weight and precisely-tuned, progressive suspension thought the travel curve. The whole package aims to deliver the kind of fun I look for in a mountain bike. This one checks all the right boxes.
It is available globally today in four models CF 6 to CF 9, with U.S. pricing from $3,999 to $6,999.
