Again, looking into the crystal ball, I’m seeing a whole slew of great 29ers coming out of the Specialized camp. In fact, the 2011 mountain bike press kit is dominated by big wheels. With the new 2×10 drivetrains and 29er-specific rear cassettes, maybe the masses are ready to adopt 29ers en masse? With Big S pushing them this hard, that fact is inevitable.
The other bike catching my attention for 2011 is the new Camber line. The Camber is a true trailbike that features 120mm front and rear in the 26-inch variant and 100mm front and rear in the 29er version. Most people would be stoked with that much travel for day-to-day riding and the occasional race. The ultralight M4 alloy hydroformed tubes combined with smart parts specs looks to be a winning package. A notable feature of these new tubes is the formed pivot points instead of the welded-on variety (saves weight and adds to the clean lines).
The only omission I’m seeing is the lack of a tapered head tube, which is now commonplace.

Once again, look for more 29ers at your local Specialized dealer in the coming months. The Camber 29er lineup looks to offer a ton of value for the money (based on the spec) in a trail-slaying package. At $2900, this one will be hard to beat.

I cannot seem to find the price in this article which would confirm if it was a “ton of value for the money.”
Yup… that’s why I said it “looks like a ton of value”… pricing is fleeting right now as I’m awaiting confirmation. But yeah, it would seem silly of me eh?
Looking at the package, I’m guessing it will be a solid value, but my gut may be wrong. We’ll see once pricing gets in my hot little hands.
Just following up on this. Specialized launched their 2011 line this week and the Camber Pro 29er is priced at $2900, which is (as I stated), “… a ton of value for the money…” indeed!
