HG Jersey 1 Delivers Stretchy Performance
It was a sunny, 85-degree day and what else did I grab but the Dainese HG Jersey 1. Usually, I wouldn’t be grabbing a long-sleeve shirt of any type for this kind of weather, but the HG Jersey 1 is unique. With its lightweight, stretchy fabric, the knit material breathes like a champ.
Honestly, I’ve been amazed at how well this jersey performs in warm weather. It provides excellent sun protection and feels so lightweight against the skin, I don’t mind it at all. On long climbs, it continues to breathe and at speed on the downhill, the air simply flows on through. When worn atop body armor, just know that this jersey will allow gobs of airflow to help keep you comfortable.
Even without body armor, it fits well without any excess to flap around. It also has a good length for added coverage — something that was key for pairing with the HG Shorts 1. Fit and style is fantastic here as Dainese has done a great job staying true to their Italian, performance-oriented roots. I’m 5’11” and 170 lbs and the size large was just the ticket. Raglan sleeves and flat lock stitching continue the comfort theme here.
Thankfully, I haven’t tested the crash worthiness of the HG Jersey 1, but even though the knit material is porous, it’s proven durable thus far. The only hiccup is about an 8″ section of hem that came unstitched. I tacked it in place with my mad sewing skills, but keep an eye out on that hem. Also, I always wore the HG Jersey 1 with the Dainese HG Short 1.
