I just got word on a new ski release from Surface Skis called the Save Life. It’s built on the workhorse Watch Life chassis, but with special graphics to show the love for patrollers, avalanche forecasters, guides and everyone else schlepping around the mountain to keep our sorry butts safe. What a great way to show some love to these hard-working and under-recognized individuals.
A great-looking ski that’s worthy of all the rescue personnel who put their lives at risk every day to keep us all safe. The only downside for some may be the twinned tail as it is difficult to then use them as anchors or attaching climbing skins in the wild. Still, kudos to Surface for making a great ski and donating a portion of the proceeds to some great causes. See below for details.

This one goes out to those who are up before dawn doing avalanche control work, running routes, plucking us off of rock bands when we make stupid decisions, scraping us off the bottom of park jumps when we come up 15 feet short and so on. We owe a lot to Ski Patrollers and Backcountry Rescue people. With that being said, we produced the Save Life work ski for patrollers, guides, rescue and avalanche forecasters around the world.
The Save Life is produced via the Watch Life mold and makes for a fantastic work ski for all conditions. Super lightweight and 100mm underfoot, its perfect for side-stepping, skinning and general everyday workload in the mountains. On top of it all, we are donating 10% of all revenue to WBR (Wasatch Backcountry Rescue) and ICAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue) to help fund those two non-profit organizations that do so much for our sport and lifestyle.
