Zipp has launched their first AXS-connected wheels using the Zipp AXS Wheel Sensor in both the updated 353 NSW and 303 SW wheelsets. It’s no secret that tire pressure is some of the most closely-guarded information in the pro peloton — with riders often giving their competitor’s tires a squeeze test at the start. Now, they don’t have to do the Charmin test, but they can look at their head unit to find out the exact tire pressure.
In recent races, automatic tire pressure systems have been used, but that’s not something we’ll see en masse anytime soon. Zipp’s new AXS Wheel Sensor is a nifty and integrated way to keep tabs on tire pressure in a sleek package. Built into the all-new Zipp 353 NSW and 303 SW wheelsets, it’s as easy as a quick spin and a green light — indicating you’re within your chosen tire pressure range. With a full SRAM AXS setup, the pre-ride check will now involve two more green lights.

Adding the AXS Wheel Sensor required significant updates to each wheelset and Zipp also developed all-new ZR1 and ZR1 SL hubs to match. Even with the addition of the wheel sensor, the 353 NSW is 30g lighter (1310g) and is 16% more impact-resistant. The new 303 SW gains a modest 32g (1440g) while also being 10% more impact-resistant. The 353 NSW is now explicitly not approved for gravel riding (oops), but the 303 SW is approved for road and gravel adventures. Both models do see small price increases over the outgoing models. And the shaping is slightly modified with the 353 going a few mm shallower while the 303 gets a slight shape update, but remains 40mm deep. The price of the 303 SW goes from $2046 to $2200 and the 353 NSW goes from $4220 to $4300.

Zipp also made updates to the 454 NSW and 858 NSW wheelsets — adding the ZR1 SL hubs. In addition, they released the new Goodyear Vector R XPLR 40mm road tire. All the cool kids are running wider and wider road tires and that new rubber is optimized for the 303 XPLR wheelset.
