It’s that time of year when new bikes and gear roll out. With all the product and manufacturing delays over the past two years, it’s refreshing to see new releases, like the 2023 Canyon Ultimate. With a pedigree high and deep, the Ultimate has single-handedly put the Canyon brand on the map. With wins at monuments, Grand Tours and World Championships, the Canyon Ultimate has been a staple of the pro peloton and now it’s getting faster, lighter, stiffer and more efficient.

Heading into 2023, the racy Canyon Ultimate CF will continue with three carbon layup options: SL, SLX and CFR. Each becomes progressively stiffer, more responsive, lighter and more expensive (hey, hand built carbon fiber frames don’t come cheap). But, when I say expensive, Canyon’s direct-to-consumer business model allows for very competitive pricing so you don’t have to take out a second mortgage to get into one. And, since this is a race bike, every Shimano Di2 and SRAM eTap AXS model gets a power meter — definitely a differentiator if you’re shopping for a fast and responsive race bike.

2023 Canyon Ultimate CF Highlights:
- Refined frame shapes and geometry
- Power meters on all electronic builds (Di2 and eTap)
- Identical fit and handling as the Aeroad (a slightly more aggressive geometry)
- Reinforced carbon layup in key areas for added durability
- 15% stiffer head tube for precise steering
- 10 watts more efficient at speed
- Adjustable cockpit stack/width
- Full internal electronic routing SL/SLX/CFR and partial on SL mechanical models
- 32mm tire clearance
- Available in CF SL, CF SLX and CFR models
- Unisex models only
- Weights as low as 6.3 kg complete
- Seven US models range from $2999 (SL 7) to $10,999 (CFR Di2 or eTap)
